Bill
In an effort to ensure consistency and continuity and to build
a strong foundation for the implementation of the National Strategy
to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion, the Québec government,
in the wake of its numerous consultations, decided to enshrine the Strategy
in an Act.
The Act to combat poverty and social exclusion was adopted
unanimously on December 13, 2002, by the National Assembly. It will
guide the government in planning and implementing the measures required
to attain its objectives under the National Strategy to Combat Poverty
and Social Exclusion.
In addition to the Strategy, the bill provides for the establishment
of
- a fund to support initiatives to combat poverty;
- an observatory on poverty and social exclusion;
- an advisory committee on the prevention of poverty and social exclusion.
