Eligibility

Recipients of last-resort financial assistance under age 25:

  • mothers or fathers who are the head of a single-parent family
  • mothers or fathers under age 18
    • who constitute a family with a dependent child of whom they are the father or mother OR
    • who are a member of a two-parent family, if they are married to the other adult member of the family OR
    • who are a member of a two-parent family, if they are the de facto spouse of the other adult member of the family and both spouses are the parents of the same dependent child
  • young parents who live together as a couple

People under age 25 who do not receive public income support:*

  • mothers or fathers who are the head for a single-parent family
  • young parents who live together as a couple

* An evaluation of the participant’s financial situation must show that the person’s income is below the low-income cut-off.

People under age 25 who are eligible for employment insurance (including people receiving benefits under the Québec Parental Insurance Plan):

  • mothers or fathers who are the head of a single-parent family
  • young parents who live together as a couple

People who receive benefits under the Québec Parental Insurance Plan and keep their employment relationship may participate in Ma place au soleil (MPS) if they were underemployed or if their job was threatened. An in-depth evaluation of their situation and needs must be carried out in advance.

Participants in the Youth Alternative Program:

  • mothers or fathers who are the head of a single-parent family
  • mothers or fathers under age 18
    • who constitute a family with a dependent child of whom they are the father or mother OR
    • who are a member of a two-parent family, if they are married to the other adult member of the family OR
    • who are a member of a two-parent family, if they are the de facto spouse of the other adult member of the family and both spouses are the parents of the same dependent child
  • young parents who live together as a couple

Both young parents may participate in MPS or one of them may benefit from any other Emploi-Québec measure or service.
