Community action statistics
- There are about 8,000 community organizations in Québec, all regions combined. Close to half of them belong to the independent community action movement.
- For the 2010-2011 fiscal year, the Québec government granted over $860,1 million to 5,089 community organizations, via:
- 13 government departments and 8 government agencies;
- 63 financial support measures and programs.
- This $860,1 million was broken down as follows:
- $520,9 million, or 60,6% of the total, went to support the organizations’ overall mission. This type of support was granted to 4,268 community organizations (84% of recipient organizations);
- $281,6 million, or 32,7% of the total, was granted under service agreements. It was shared by 1,682 community organizations;
- $57,6 million, or 6,7% of the total, was devoted to one-time projects. It went to 1,541 community organizations.
- As at April 1, 2011, the average financial support granted by the government to support the organizations’ overall mission was $122,046 per organization. The median amount was $76,134.
- For the 308 local, regional and national groups of organizations, the average financial support was $86,583 and the median amount was $69,861. A total of $26,7 million was granted to groups of organizations.
