Community action statistics
- There are about 8,000 community organizations in Québec, all regions combined. Close to half of them belong to the independent community action movement.
- For the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the Québec government granted over $794,7 million to 5,085 community organizations, via:
- 13 government departments and 8 government agencies;
- 60 financial support measures and programs.
- This $794,7 million was broken down as follows:
- $495,7 million, or 62% of the total, went to support the organizations’ overall mission. This type of support was granted to 4,267 community organizations (84% of recipient organizations);
- $247,9 million, or 31% of the total, was granted under service agreements. It was shared by 1,770 community organizations;
- $50,2 million, or 6% of the total, was devoted to one-time projects. It went to 1,453 community organizations.
- As at April 1, 2009, the average financial support granted by the government to support the organizations’ overall mission was $116,168 per organization. The median amount was $71,228. This support targeted 4,267 organizations, including groups of organizations.
- For the 307 local, regional and national groups of organizations, the average financial support was $88,453 and the median amount was $69,948. A total of $27,1 million was granted to groups of organizations.
